“Why should we care about eye health during a pandemic, because eyes can be one of the ways for the covid virus to enter. The way to prevent this is at home, wash your hands properly and avoid touching your face, use masks, personal protective equipment for health workers, including factory workers, exercise and maintain body nutrition for immunity and avoid obesity, “said Dr. Sekar.
He explained, there are two problems that often occur in the pandemic era, first, namely Dry Eye Syndrome or dry eye symptoms, which occurs due to prolonged use of gadgets every day.

“Whereas if you look at the gadget screen, the frequency of blinking decreases, it doesn’t blink as often as it should be, which is 15 times per minute, if you see the screen it can decrease 5-7 times per minute or half of what it should then dry eyes occur,” said Dr. Sekar.
Then the second problem, Digital Eye Strain or eye fatigue, which occurs due to close work, including writing, reading on printed paper or digital devices for a long time and causing blurred eyes due to continuous accommodation.
“Accommodation is the eye’s ability to focus vision, from looking far to seeing close, that is what focuses on the eye muscles to accommodate, that is what causes fatigue in our eyes so that eye fatigue symptoms can occur and headaches can occur,” said dr. Sekar.
