Wat is ‘Long Covid’?

According to it RIVM long-term coronavirus may occur if patients have symptoms such as fatigue, shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain, headache, palpitations, persistent elevation, prolonged loss of sense of smell, depression or forgetfulness (‘brain fog ‘). The Dutch College of General Practitioners estimates that there are now about 20,000 to 40,000 people with “complaints that persist for more than eight weeks and that hinder their functioning”.

The term ‘Long Covid’ which is often used comes from the English word ‘long’. In short: long-lasting corona. Another name is Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 Infection, or PASC.
