Dozens of travelers stopped at Hinterzarten train station on Saturday. They were asked by the railways to be prepared to wait a long time.
At 11.20 a.m., the railways reported a short-term staff shortage in the signal box with partial failures between Freiburg and Hinterzarten and stated that it would last until 2.30 p.m. Replacement buses were used, but according to a traveler to BZ, the vehicles coming from Titisee were already fully occupied and were not taking any more travellers.
The Dreisamtal Hochschwarzwald passenger advisory board reacted on Saturday and wrote a letter to the state parliamentarians. It says that the problems of modernizing the Breisgau S-Bahn have been fought for three and a half years: lack of personnel and vehicles, failure of complete connections, overcrowded trains, delays and longer travel times have become permanent phenomena. Instead of the promised increase in capacity, one often has to assume that the available space will be greatly reduced. A large number of the vehicles are regularly in the workshop or are smeared with graffiti on the siding because spare parts are missing. In the letter, the passenger advisory board quotes the recurring train information “Train is running today with reduced space. One of our cars is in the workshop. Please also check alternative travel options” and calls this an obvious request in the electronic timetable information to perhaps use the car after all. “As a rule, this is certainly not a contribution to the traffic turnaround,” states author Klaus Hr for the passenger advisory board and calls on the deputies to work to remedy the shortcomings.
