LAST: The vehicles have been removed and the road is open for traffic.
The accident happened at the Hemtunnelen in Tønsberg in a southerly direction. Four vehicles are involved in the accident, a van, a car and two trucks.
– The first two cars managed to stop before the slow-moving queue, but the two trucks did not, says operations manager Jan Tore Gregersen.
Two drivers suffered back and neck pain and were taken to the emergency room, but no one was seriously injured.
Several accidents in the same place
The traffic was routed because in one field and the accident led to long queues. But at 9.30 the police stated that the vehicles had been removed and the road reopened to normal traffic.
In October, the Vestfold inter-municipal fire service responded to seven accidents in and around the Home Tunnel in October. Also Sunday, several cars collided at the same location.
– Roadworks on the E18 increase the risk of accidents, therefore we strongly encourage everyone to be as attentive as possible, respect speed limits and signage, the fire service encourages.
Oslofjord tunnel closed
Traffic problems have also been reported elsewhere in the country.
The Oslofjord tunnel was closed in the direction of Drammen after a car with a trailer stopped in the tunnel. The tunnel is now open for traffic.
Earlier in the morning, two accidents were reported on the E18. One in Bamble and one in Drammen where both created traffic problems.
In Bamble, the road was closed northbound for a short period.
There were four cars involved in the accident that occurred when one car drove into another from behind. Two people suffered pain in the neck and head after the collision.
Chain collision in Bergen
The emergency services also moved out early today after reports of a chain collision in a southbound field on E39 between the Eidsvåg tunnel and Selvik in Bergen.
Four cars are involved in the accident, no one was seriously injured after the incident. One field was closed and it created traffic challenges in the morning rush hour.
The road is now cleared.
