Long queues: – Asks registered people to wait until election day

Now is the last deadline to vote in advance at the election, and in several cities the queues grew on Friday afternoon.

In central Oslo, queues were scattered across the square at Central Station and the new Deichman Library.

The municipality’s election manager Ingvild Åsgård now asks those who are registered in Oslo to wait until election day to vote.

– Those who are registered in municipalities other than Oslo, must vote today or travel home to their home municipalities to vote on election days. While those who are registered in Oslo can wait until the two election days or choose a venue outside the city center, Åsgård tells NRK.

Long queues were also reported in Bergen on Friday. At Torgalmenningen in Bergen, it is promised that those who line up before 4 pm, when the polling station is scheduled to close, will be allowed in.

– If there is a very long queue there, I would recommend checking if there is a smaller queue at one of the other receptions. Citizen service and the main library have generally had little progress so far, says election manager in Bergen municipality, Ida Rambech in Bergens Tidende.

In this year’s election, the number who vote in advance has already broken all records. As of Friday, 1,587,174 advance votes have been registered for the Storting election. This corresponds to 40.8 per cent of all eligible voters.

September 10 is the last opportunity to vote in advance. Then you can only vote in the municipality you are registered with. Election day is Sunday 12 and Monday 13 September.
