Long Queues as Leclerc Gas Station in Bois-d’Arcy Sells Fuel at Cost Price

At the Leclerc gas station in Bois-d’Arcy (Yvelines), Queues extend for several meters, this Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Neither the waiting time nor the rain at the start of the day discourages motorists. And this for a very good reason: the price at the pump.

While Michel-Edouard Leclerc, president of Leclerc stores, announced on September 26, 2023 on X that his stations would sell their fuel at cost price every day until the end of the year, the Bois-d’Arcy establishment proves to be one of the least expensive in Yvelines.

It must be said that with le liter of E10 has 1.831€ or that of diesel at €1,923, there is something to interest motorists. Some are even ready to take it upon themselves…. like wait 20 minutes.

Long queues

This Tuesday, the queue does not exceed four cars in a row. This was not the case yesterday at the same time, according to Myriam, a 32-year-old motorist. “Today, the waiting time is relatively reasonable. Yesterday, I came for another vehicle and I waited a good twenty minutes,” she explains.

If Myriam comes back, it’s because of the savings she makes on her fill of SP95. “I have a big car, I save big. With my husband, we have to save almost 20 euros per month with the new cost price announcements,” she adds.

“Every penny counts”

Others are ready to come from far away to hope to save some money. “I just came from Plaisir to stock up. On my route, I pass several stations, but I prefer to drive to Leclerc. It’s cheaper here, and every penny counts« , assure Catherine, 54 ans.

Insufficient help?

Some savings at the end of the month, of course. But for motorists, this is still not enough. “I have to earn a few euros, it’s true. But I’m not going to be happy with a liter of SP95 for €1.83,” concludes René, 63 years old.

And what about the €100 bonus announced by Emmanuel Macron on TF1 September 25, 2023, for certain motorists from January 2024? It is still controversial. “I am not concerned by this bonus, as usual. And I’m tired of it always being the same people who benefit from it,” Myriam is dismayed.
