Much of the young people who suffer from the disease covid-19 they recover quickly. However, there is growing concern, which is reflected in an increase in publications, in relation to the sequels that remain or appear after the extended covid o long covid.

An article published in the magazine Nature Medicine (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-021-01433-3), describes persistent symptoms six months after suffering the disease acutely, even in those young people who were isolated at home. This study followed the patients infected during the first pandemic wave in Bergen, Norway. About 50% of young adults up to 30 years of age still had persistent symptoms six months after the acute illness. The most common were loss of smell and / or taste, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and memory problems. Furthermore, there was a significant correlation between elevated antibody levels and these symptoms. Those under 16 years of age, despite having less symptoms than adults in the long term, presented cognitive symptoms and concentration difficulties.

On the other hand, in another recently published work (https://www.bmj.com/content/bmj/374/bmj.n1648.full.pdf) was found after acute covid-19 disease, affectations such as cerebrovascular accidents, seizures and syndrome of Guillain Barre. This study also looks at how acute covid-19 disease can increase the risk of developing the disease. Parkinson and the disease of Alzheimer.

The work establishes that both adults and children can experience multisystemic inflammatory syndrome with low frequency after having suffered the disease. In this condition, some organs and tissues become severely inflamed.

Therefore, it is necessary to underline that although the acute covid-19 disease presents an adequate evolution in a high percentage of patients, the potentially long-lasting problems make it even more important to reduce the spread of the virus SARS-CoV-2 following the designed prevention measures, and including vaccination and the use of masks.
