Chinese President Xi Jinping had a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to AFP, citing Chinese state media.

As Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Twitter, he had a “long and meaningful” telephone conversation with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, which he said he hopes will boost Ukraine’s relations with Beijing.

“I had a long and meaningful phone call with President Xi Jinping. I believe that this phone call, as well as the appointment of the ambassador of Ukraine to China, will give a strong impetus to the development of our bilateral relations,” he wrote.

However, he did not give further details about what exactly they discussed.
