‘Loneliest elephant in the world’ touches for the first time in years …

An elephant who lived alone in Pakistan for a long time moved to a zoo in Cambodia at the beginning of this week. After a long period of loneliness, he sees a congener again for the first time.

Kaavan lived in appalling conditions in a zoo in Pakistan for thirty-five years. His buddy died in 2012 and he was alone ever since. This gives the animal the title of ‘loneliest elephant in the world’. After efforts by singer Cher, among others, he moved to a park in Cambodia at the beginning of this week. There he learns to live with other elephants again. The first contact with his peers was not long in coming.
