London’s West End Sees Surge in Luxury Boutique Openings as Christmas Approaches

In London, as Christmas approaches, several luxury boutiques have opened on Savile Row and adjacent streets. London’s West End confirms its strong comeback.

Pineider

The Pollen Estate has several commercial premises in the area. According to the property owner, Pineider, Fedro Gaudenzi, Perfumer H, HAX and Daniel Hanson have all chosen Savile Row and surrounding areas to open new stores.

This interesting selection clearly shows that the area is evolving beyond its traditional specialties (costumes and tailor-made tailoring) to include contemporary perfumery and high-end stationery brands. It is also edifying to note that central London is not reserved for multinationals: independents are also looking to break into it.

But let’s instead introduce these newcomers. Pineider is an Italian leather goods/paper maker who has just opened at 3 Clifford Street. This historic house, founded in 1774 in Florence, does not stand out in the landscape of Mayfair, where traditional businesses are legion.

This is its first flagship in the United Kingdom. Customers will be able to discover luggage and small leather goods, as well as notebooks and pens. All products can be personalized and a small collection even brings together tailor-made creations. Calligraphy workshops will be regularly offered in the store.

Even closer to the usual image of the neighborhood, Fedro Gaudenzi is a contemporary tailor specializing in made-to-measure items. The company, founded in London in 2016, now has a new workshop at 34 Cork Street, using “Italian and British craftsmanship [pour réaliser] innovative designs.”

Daniel Hanson

The perfumer Lyn Harris is well known to the British and her brand Perfumer H has just opened a new establishment in London, more precisely at 15A Clifford Street. True to the street’s 18th-century style architecture, the shop “evokes the London Georgian style”. The brand will present its fragrances, the creations of Michael Ruh, candles, incense, potpourri and mouthwatering products.

HAX is a bespoke clothing label for men and women founded by Hattie Glendenning this year. Wherever possible, the label uses materials made in Yorkshire and claims “to operate outside the norms of traditional tailoring, offering a fresh approach to bespoke clothing”. The store is located at 15 Clifford Street.

Finally, at 36 Savile Row, Daniel Hanson specializes in made-to-measure wedding dresses and loungewear. The brand also offers a small selection of ready-to-wear, bringing together pieces created and made in Nottingham.
