London Welcomes Europe’s Highest Viewpoint with Free and Open Access

London will inaugurate the self-proclaimed highest viewpoint in Europe, Horizon 22, that will allow a free and open access for the entire public.

From the new viewpoint, located in a building in the City – its financial district – at a height of 254 metrosyou can see the capital of the United Kingdom.

In it piso 58 of the skyscraper – known as 22 due to its exact address on Bishopsgate Street -, in a space designed to accommodate around 290 people, Phillip Shalless and his team have created the tallest gallery in Europe made up of more than 10,000 windows.

When does the new viewpoint open?

Its opening is scheduled for next September 27.

“What makes this place unique will be what people bring to this space, and what they get out of this space,” said Shalless, asset manager at AXA and responsible for the execution of this building.

With the reservations for opening to the public already sold outthe viewpoint will be open “almost every day of the year” except Christmas, Boxing Day (December 26) and New Year’s Day, explains Shalless, who recommends booking in advance through the system available on the website.

The opening “means a lot to us. It’s not something routine. “There is a real enthusiasm for being able to share this space with the public,” she expresses after six years of work in which they have had to face the difficulties of Brexit and the pandemic.

What can be seen from the viewpoint

From Horizon 22 you can see, to the west, the iconic St. Paul’s Cathedralhe Thameshe Parliament, and even to Wembley Stadium; and, to the east, see the Olympic Park, starting with the Tower Bridge of London almost at his feet.

“You have so many things to see, that you will never get tired of the views” says Shalles. “The weather changes, the views change,” and therefore “there is no favorite view, each one of them is special in itself; “They offer so much, it is never the same.”
