Everard disappeared without a trace in London on March 3. She was on her way home at the time between Clapham Junction and Brixton. Just before she disappeared, she called her 33-year-old boyfriend for another 15 minutes. When she didn’t get home, her boyfriend raised the alarm and called the police.
Her disappearance is very stirring. Police searched for the woman with sniffer dogs and, according to British media, visited hundreds of houses in the area. Family and friends of the marketing employee handed out flyers.
‘Shocking and very worrying’
Police officer Nick Ephgrave called the man’s arrest an important development. He said it is “shocking and very worrying” that the suspect himself works in the police force. The man was arrested at an address in Deal, in the Kent region, southeast of London. According to the Daily Mail, it is a 48-year-old man. He is suspected of kidnapping and murder.
The man is in the unit responsible for the protection of government buildings, embassies and residences of ministers and high visitors, among other things. The officer is also suspected of public sex offense. The arrested woman is suspected of complicity.
Forest in Kent
According to British media, a few houses and a forest have been searched in Kent. The search would take place around Ashford and Deal. At a house in Deal, a police tent was seen and a black seat was taken away.

Ephgrave said the male suspect was not working when Everard disappeared. He did not want to give much further details, but expressed the hope that the disappeared woman is still alive. He said everything is being done to track her down.
Police have called on Londoners in the area to review as many surveillance and dashcam footage as possible, in the hope that a trace to Sarah will be found.
