Do you often donate money?
In terms of donations raised, 2024 was a record year for the London Marathon. According to organizers, this year’s edition raised 73.5 million pounds (82.67 million francs) in April. The previous record of 66.4 million pounds (74.69 million francs) from 2019 was exceeded.
At 67 million pounds (75.36 million francs), most of the money was donated just one day after the race. This is reported by the BBC
A further 30 million pounds (33.74 million francs) were raised on “Enthuse”, the official online fundraising platform of the London Marathon. This also corresponds to a record value.
London Marathon has been raising money for charity since 1981
In total, more than 1.3 billion pounds (1.46 billion francs) in donations have been collected since the race was first held in 1981.
At the 2024 London Marathon, more than 53,700 runners reached the finish line after 42,195 kilometers on April 21st.
