A recent study analyzed the 50 of the funniest cities in the UK to find out which are the best and – unfortunately for us – which are the worst for a night out on the town. Various factors were examined and the numbers were rattled off like that slightly sad piece of toast you eat before going to bed after a night out to ‘soak up the alcohol’. Each city was then assigned a “overall score” to determine the results – and spoiler alert: London absolutely sucked.

The findings were based on factors such as the average price of a pint, the average hotel cost and the number of pubs, bars and clubs per 10,000 inhabitants in every city. And as much as it pains me to say it: out of the 50 cities analysed, London came in at the bottom of the table, with a rather humiliating score of just 5 points out of 10.

The study found that London is the most expensive city for a night out (shock), with the average pint costing almost £7 and the average hotel costing £209. It is not own It’s our nature to have something negative to say about our own beloved capitalbut when the cost of a night out starts to resemble that of a small mortgage, we really have no basis to stand on.

The report states that: “Despite the large plethora of pubs, clubs and bars across the city, [Londra] earned the last place due to its high costs, highlighting the serious effect of cost of living crisis on the country’s nightlife economy”.

Bristol she placed in second to last place, with a score of 6.88while Belfast narrowly missed out on last place, with a score of 6.94. On a slightly more positive note, the sunny seaside town of Brighton was hailed as the UK’s best night out, boasting an impressive perfect score of 10 are 10.

Praised for its huge variety of bars and nightclubs and relatively reasonable average cost per pint, Brighton has taken the nightlife crown. Although in our opinion London reigns Still sovereign with its historic pubs, iconic music venues and abundance of bars and clubs, it’s quite convenient that Brighton is so easy to get to from the capital, right?
