In its part of the war that it spreads through social networks, London confirms that the Russian troops maintain the siege on important towns such as Kharkiv, Cherníhiv and Mariúpol and sees it “likely” that the bombings will continue to “limit their already considerable casualties, to cost of more civilian deaths.”
The British authorities recall that for now the Russian forces have been reluctant to launch “large-scale urban infantry operations”.
Instead, they have opted for the “indiscriminate use of bombardment from the air and artillery” with the aim of “demoralizing the forces that are defending themselves”.
This evaluation is known after the Russian Army declared this Friday that from now on “it will concentrate efforts on achieving the main objective: the liberation of Donbas”, in eastern Ukraine.
Despite everything, the kyiv government questions the veracity of those words and is skeptical about this supposed change in Russian approach.
“We cannot believe these words from Moscow, because many lies and falsehoods are still coming from that side. That is why we understand that the objective of (Russian President Vladimir) Outin is still the whole of Ukraine,” said Markian Lubkivski, adviser from the Ukrainian Defense Minister, to the BBC.
According to the information available to kyiv, Russia has intensified its air strikes, although Lubkivski acknowledged that they have also verified that Russian forces are now focusing on the east of the country.
