London and its allies allocate more than $1.3 billion to the International Fund for Ukraine

London, September 3 (Sputnik).- The United Kingdom, together with eight of its allies, invested more than 1,000 million pounds (1,314 million dollars) in the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU, for the acronym in English), reporting this on Wednesday at the British Ministry of Defence.

“Eight countries from around the world joined the United Kingdom in allocating more than £1 billion to the International Fund for Ukraine,” said the statement, released as a result of the Minister’s visit Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov to London this Tuesday.

The largest contribution of £500 million was given by the United Kingdom, and the rest was given by Australia, Denmark, Iceland, Lithuania, Norway, New Zealand, the Netherlands and Sweden.

The British Defense Minister, John Healey, who was mentioned in the note, also confirmed that the 300 million pounds ($391 million) contract was signed with the IFU, which was announced last July at the summit of the Atlantic Alliance, to supply Kiev with “thousands of 152-millimeter. artillery shells” until the end of this year.

In general, he continues, Ukraine will receive 120,000 shells in a year and a half.

Russia has continued special military operations in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, and their goals, according to President Vladimir Putin, are to protect the population from “genocide by the Kiev regime ” and address the national security risks posed by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s (NATO) eastward advance.

Ukraine receives military support from NATO, the war bloc led by the United States and made up of most European Union countries.

For his part, the Russian leader mentioned in early June the possibility of sending weapons of the same class to regions where “attacks against the sensitive targets of countries that do this in relation to Russia” could be launched. (Sputnik)
