The examination team from the Professional and Security Division (Bidpropam) of the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police found evidence indicating that Brigadier A, a member of the Mataram Police Satsamapta violated the procedures for handling demonstrations. student.

“From the results of the NTB Police Bidpropam examination, it can be proven that at the time of securing the action carried out by the student group there was an element of violation of handling procedures, in this case it was proven that one member, namely Brigadier A, carried out activities outside the procedure,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Regional Police. NTB Kombes Pol Artanto at a press conference in Mataram, Sunday.
He explained that the evidence was related to the action of Brigadier A, who swung the police baton at the protesters. As a result, one of the students was injured in the head.
“So this member was provoked by emotions, whereas previously, the protest handling team was asked not to equip themselves with PHH equipment, such as sticks and shields, but Brigadier A still carries (police baton),” he said.
Furthermore, the handling of disciplinary law against Brigadier A is still ongoing at the NTB Regional Police Bidpropam. Artanto ensured that the sanctions for violations committed by Brigadier A would be decided in a police disciplinary hearing.
“When the results of the trial’s decision later there are more severe matters, the person concerned can be subject to a code of ethics or brought to the realm of criminal justice,” he said.
On Thursday (21/10), students on a national scale simultaneously took to the streets to hold demonstrations. The event for conveying aspirations by the nation’s next generation is related to the reflection of the two years of Joko Widodo-Maruf Amin’s reign.
The same thing happened in the NTB area, but the demonstration of a group of students in front of the NTB DPRD building ended in clashes with the authorities.
The trigger for the clashes was allegedly due to the reaction of the police who tried to quell the actions of students burning used tires. During the incident, reports emerged that one of the protesters had suffered a head injury.
In connection with the incident, Artanto also apologized to the Head of the NTB Police, Inspector General Pol Mohammad Iqbal.
“The NTB Police, through the NTB Police Chief, apologizes for the behavior of its members who carried out violence during the demonstration,” he said.
