1 – Under what circumstances can you leave the house?

You can leave the house only for proven work needs, situations of necessity or health reasons. The same goes for leaving the borders of your municipality and region.

2 – Can I go to visit relatives?

No, in the red zone there is no possibility of being able to leave the house to visit relatives or friends.

3 – What about Easter?

On 3, 4 and 5 April the whole national territory will be in the red zone (except the regions in the white zone, which will remain white), but just like at Christmas 2020 you can move once a day, between 5 am and 10 pm, within the regional territory to another private home, within the limits of two additional people compared to those already cohabiting in the “destination” home (children under the age of 14 years and non self-sufficient people living together).

4 – Can I go to my elderly parents’ home?

Only if there is a reason of necessity, for example if they are non self-sufficient people, or to bring them the shopping.

5 – Can I go to the second house?

Yes, I can also go to the red zone and even if it is located in another region in the red zone. The new Dpcm does not specifically address the issue, but reiterates that “the return to one’s home, home or residence is allowed”; the new “faq”, which are expected shortly, should then specify better the ways to reach second homes. In particular, according to government sources, it will be allowed to go to second homes for all those who have a title to prove ownership and on condition that the destination home is not inhabited by people not belonging to the owner’s family.

6 – Can I go out for a run?

Motor activity, “traditionally” understood as walking, is allowed only in the vicinity of one’s home. Sports activity, of greater intensity and therefore for example running, is to be understood as permitted within the boundaries of one’s own municipality. In both cases, the activities must be individual and not group.

7 – Are the schools open?

No: all school cycles, from kindergarten to high school to university, are in distance learning.

8 – How does the takeaway work?

Bars and restaurants are closed to the public but can continue to work with home delivery, without time constraints, and with take-away. For the take-away some clarifications must be made: for restaurants it is allowed until 10 pm, for bars only until 6 pm; in any case, there is a ban on consumption on the spot or nearby.

9 – Which stores are open?

Only the activities of the sale of food and basic necessities remain operational, including newsstands, tobacconists, pharmacies and parapharmacies, but also bookstores, stationeries, personal linen and children’s footwear stores, sporting goods and toys, florists, shops for animals; on holidays and days before holidays, commercial establishments inside shopping centers are closed, except for pharmacies, parapharmacies, health centers, laundries and dry cleaners, outlets for foodstuffs, agricultural and nursery products, tobacconists, newsstands and bookstores.

10 – What about the markets?

Only the stalls selling food, agricultural and horticultural products are operational.

11 – Are the hairdressers open?

No, and neither do the beauty centers. The only personal services that can operate in the red zone are laundries.

12 – Can we go to church?

Yes, religious services continue to take place, in compliance with anti-Covid protocols.
