Lokomotiv vs. Metallurg: Lokomotiv Narrowly Defeated in Second Game of Series

Compared to the previous game, there were two changes in the Yaroslavl team – Ivan Chekhovich and Maxim Shalunov were replaced by Daniil Tesanov and Yaroslav Likhachev.

Already in the first minute, the “railwaymen” were left in the minority and had to suffer an unpleasant time with four players, when the opponent got several shots on the target and towards the goal. Then, the teams spent a minute and a half in a 4 on 4 format, and during the short period of Yaroslavl’s majority, one good attack could be noted immediately, which was completed by Sergeev, but throw the defender from a good position it turned out not to be too expensive. By the middle of the section, Lokomotiv had a territorial advantage, but there weren’t too many direct attacking opportunities. The next special episode happened in the 13th minute, when Andronov made a one-timer from the right throw-in circle, but he failed to beat the goalkeeper. The home team responded to this with a counterattack, a mid-range shot, so Isaev had to show his skills. The next incident was Gernat’s second takedown in the game – Magnitogorsk did not create dangerous moments, but it forced the Yaroslavl team to spend energy on defense, and due to their numerical advantage, they organized two further attacks. However, the most dangerous moment was created by Lokomotiv players, and only after a long time in their own area: Ivanov, who completed Rafikov’s pass to the goal, missed the target a little. Then, the “railwaymen” had their first full power game, they got several shots, including from close range, but our team failed to score. The third period started very badly for Lokomotiv – just 21 seconds after the start, the quick attack of the opponent led to a lost goal, 1:0. After that, the Magnitogorsk team began to attack him, and in the sixth minute they almost scored the second goal, but now Isaev did not allow himself to be better in a close fight. Until the 11th minute, despite the advantage of the puck, the “railwaymen” could not deliver to the opponent’s goal and created problems for Nabokov. Only at the end was it possible to visit Metallurg; a second before the whistle the puck was scored, but after a long review the goal was disallowed due to a hand pass before the minute.
