The Uralvagonzavod group of companies in the Rosteh State Corporation has started the production of 500 new tank wagons for the transport of oil products, which should eliminate the previously identified shortage of such wagons in Russia.

The assembly and painting of the first batch of tank wagons 15-150-04 for the transport of light oil products is in progress at the Uralvagonzavod wagon assembly plant. The advantages of this model include an enlarged boiler diameter and a design feature that allows for complete discharge. The boiler is mounted on the bogie 18-100 for the track width 1520 mm. The useful life is 32 years. These tanks are used not only for the transportation of oil products, but also for their storage.
The rail vehicle market is showing interest in tank wagons manufactured by Uralvagonzavod. At the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021 alone, more than 1000 units for the transport of oil products and 100 units for the transport of vegetable oils were delivered to various customers. This and future contracts reduce the previously identified shortage of specialized tank wagons.
The company has not received any major orders for this type of rolling stock in several years. In 2019, orders for small batches of dozens of units came in, and tank car assembly was done in a single shift. After the batch volume had increased many times over, the device was switched to 24-hour operation.
