Loire: the sale of alcohol prohibited from 4 p.m.

The prefect of the Loire has just taken a decree which prohibits the sale of alcohol to take away from 4 p.m., every day. A decree valid until June 1, 2021.

This decision comes at a time when the figures for covid-19 remain high in the Loire and as groups of people multiply on the public road around the restaurants offering take-out alcohol.

The ban on the sale of take-away alcohol from 4 p.m. to 6 a.m. has been applicable since March 1 in the 53 municipalities of Saint-Étienne Métropole, Roanne, Le Coteau, Mably, Riorges, Villerest, Feurs, Montbrison, Montrond-les -Bains, Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert, Sury-le-Comtal, Veauche and Chazelles-sur-Lyon.

As a result of this measure, many bars and restaurants that offered take-out alcohol sales decided to open earlier. This is the case of a bar / restaurant at Place Jean Jaurès in Saint-Etienne:
