Loire. He doesn’t get a tram ticket and smashes 18 vending machines with a pétanque ball

There is nothing “Pagnolesque” about the situation except that this brutal story is out of the ordinary. On Friday 6 September, a public transport user who was unable to collect a tram ticket decided to go on strike.

Using a pétanque ball, he got straight to the point. In his revolution, on his way, he gave himself a blow, breaking as many Stas machines that run on the T1 tram line in Saint-Étienne.

A systematic and funny turn following the line of the trams, but not without financial consequences.

ATMs were also damaged

This person, who was around fifty years old, did not only damage the tram machines: he also caused serious problems with at least three ATMs (automatic ticket machines). Arrested after these crimes, he was placed in police custody. He was released pending trial.

Stas (Transport Company of the metropolitan area of Saint-Etienne) estimates the damage at more than 80,000 euros. The “game” of pétanque is expensive. Especially since the banks, which were affected by these magical tiles, are still not able to determine the extent of the damage. This explains why the author of these acts of damage will not be tried immediately, but later.
