A massive deployment of relief forces swept through the streets of Feurs on Saturday morning shortly before 9am. Everyone joined the Nigay company, the caramel manufacturing specialist based on rue Jean-Jaurès, after a team of workers noticed that a fire broke out in an oven with fuel oil.
Fifteen workers were brought to safety
With the quick intervention of the firefighters it was possible to quickly control the flames and bring about fifteen people to safety. The latter all relied on a gas measuring function to eliminate any doubt of fire smoke poisoning.
According to the management of the company that met on the site, the reasons for the escape of this oven are not known.
Production canceled for the day
However, production had to be suspended for the day to clean up the area and repair the equipment to get it back to work as soon as possible. This intervention involved forty firefighters from various emergency centers in the region, including a ventilation and breathing air support unit and a chemical hazard team.
