Loire-Atlantique: two twin babies die in a house fire

The father of the two children tried in vain to save them. He was taken to hospital with serious burns.

Two 13-month-old twins died this Saturday, November 25 in a fire in their house in Marsac-sur-Don, in Loire-Atlantique. The firefighters report in their daily bulletin that they intervened around 1:30 p.m. when the single-storey accommodation was “entirely engulfed in flames when the emergency services arrived”.

The father of the two children was also present and was seriously burned. According to information from France Bleuhe tried three times to save the twins but could not because of the toxic fumes.

Psychological cell

In total, the intervention required the mobilization of 41 firefighters accompanied by 14 engines. The fire was extinguished using two water hoses, explains the Sdis of Loire-Atlantique.

The mother was informed while she was at her workplace. She was taken care of by the psychological unit set up by the firefighters.

As reported by France Bleu, the mayor of the town Hervé De Trogoff went to the scene of the tragedy, expressing “extreme pain”. “In the hamlet of La Colle, there are 36 houses and the people all know each other. So automatically, it creates a state of shock,” he said.

“What we hope is that the father and mother will be able to continue to live with hope but it will surely be very difficult. We will be at their side to try to help them on a daily basis, as soon as they can return to the town “, added the city councilor.
