Loire-Atlantique: Clémence brings the museum to your home

“Remember, during the first confinement: there were videos of exhibitions broadcast on the internet,” recalls Clémence Gauche from Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique). With this same desire to make art visible to all, the concept of Museums at home that the young woman offers is at the crossroads of her two life paths, mixing art and humanity.

A decisive experience in Guérande

“My education attracted me to art, because with my parents, we visited a lot of museums, castles, etc., and they told me the history,” rewinds the smiling brunette, who naturally turns towards a master’s degree in art history and material cultures, leading him to cultural mediation and the function of guide.

At the same time, this Lyphardaise native spent seasons in a Guérande nursing home for several summers.

“I immediately connected with this audience,” she confesses.

A vocation born from a double experience

Then comes Covid. Clémence, now from Nantes, returns to work in a nursing home. “They needed help,” breathes the young woman.

There, his meeting with one of the representatives ofAggregationan association dedicated to leisure activities for the elderly, was decisive in establishing its emerging vocation.

Clémence joined the association in 2021 and, having returned to settle in Saint-Nazaire, has since divided her time between the Nantes metropolis and the Nazaire basinto share his passion for art in all its forms, both in collective reception structures and at home.

Exchange, create links

“Generally, people let themselves be guided by what I propose or the choice is made naturally through discussion. I adapt and use various media, such as photos, videos, virtual reality, sound recordings, film clips, etc. I can present a monument, a work of art, an artistic movement, well-known and timeless artists like Van Gogh or Gauguinless known, or linked to current events or a current exhibition,” lists the art history enthusiast.

Clémence can also accompany and guide in a museuma gallery or a religious building and has also set up cycles of conferences themes, such as the representation of the five senses in art, the seven wonders of the modern world, or even Christmas in the countries of the world. Eager for exchanges and sharing, the speaker really likes, in a collective structure, to bring her listeners together and make them interact.

This recreates the bond between them, but also with their families, because they will discuss together this or that subject of a conference.

Beneficial effects on health

Feelings of escape and of having learned things are the main findings at the end of these conferences. “It works the memory, reconnects with memories, enriches the vocabulary through reading. It also allows some people to escape their loneliness,” lists the speaker, convinced of the benefits that this intergenerational sharing brings.

And the empathetic twenty-something emphasizes: “Older people have so much to say! I feed off what they teach me, their experiences, the flashes they feel when we discuss. »
