The suspect, from Montbrison, denies being the author of the blows which caused the death of one of the three other men who were in his cell last weekend, said the Saint-Etienne prosecutor’s office. .
Indicted for intentional homicide

The man, who has 19 convictions on his criminal record, had been serving an 18-month prison sentence since March for domestic violence.
The victim is a 59-year-old man from Croatia. He shared with three other men a cell in the La Talaudière penitentiary center, where he died on Saturday despite cardiac massage provided by a fellow prisoner, then by prison guards, before the arrival of the Samu.
