Dr. Kraisorn Tothapthiang, Director of the Disease Prevention and Control Office 11, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, said that Loy Krathong Day is a tradition that Thai people have continued every year. This year falls on November 27, 2023 and every year there will be an accident where people drown and die. By information from the Strategy and Planning Division The Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Health found that in the past 5 years (2018 – 2022) during the 3 days of Loy Krathong (before Loy Krathong, Loy Krathong and after Loy Krathong), 197 Thai people drowned. This number is as many as 23 children under 15 years of age and on one Loy Krathong day. A total of 65 people drowned, an average of 13 people per year. The most common causes of drowning were drinking alcohol or going to collect money in krathongs. and allowing children to float krathongs or be near water sources alone
