First, the so-called bouldering was climbed, in which Ondra scored 24.1 points, after he reached the second zone as soon as possible on the first wall or boulder, thus scoring 9.5 points. On the second boulder, he also did not get further than the second zone, but this time he had 9.8 points for it. He did not succeed at all on the third wall, as he could not find a recipe for how to overcome the built sculptures. On the fourth wall, he scored 4.8 points.
Both Ondra and Schubert had to bow to the rising generation. Britain’s Tony Roberts became the winner thanks to a total ten points higher than that of Japan’s Sorato Anraka. He was finishing the climb at a difficult level and could still think about overcoming Roberts, but just below the top he couldn’t hold his nerve, made a mistake and ended up even lower than where Roberts reached.
As for Adam Ondra’s total points, he scored a total of 120.1 points, losing almost twenty points to the third Schubert, and more than thirty-five to the first Roberts. The Czech climber can at least be pleased that he was better than the Olympic champion from Tokyo, the Spaniard Alberto Ginés.
“Disappointing as a result, but the band-aid is that if the difficulty were a separate discipline, it would be gold. That is a major band-aid.
