“It’s a pity that she lost. However, I think she played quite well. It was a bit unlucky,” Sokolov fan Tomáš told ČTK. “I was on a bike and came back because there is a big screen in the Old Square. I wanted to cheer because I’m proud to be our native,” he added.
Some people arrived in the square just before 11:00, when the match was scheduled to begin. In the end, however, the finalist Roland Garros 2019 did not enter the court until three hours later. People still waited for the match. The city prepared free beer and snacks for fans.

For more than two and a half hours, the match was watched by people from the benches in the square, but also from the restaurant gardens. Many cyclists also came to watch the exciting match. During a successful set, they chanted “Maki!”. Some waved the Czech flag.

According to him, several Olympians come from Sokolov, but none of them has won a medal yet.
The late finals were also watched by fans at the Olympic Festival in Brno, where they enjoyed the greatest attention of the audience at the very beginning. The fact that people gathered at the giant screen next to the stage in anticipation of the arrival of shooters Jiří Lipták and David Kostelecký also played a role in this.
