Logitech introduces HomeKit doorbell with 160 degree viewing angle – Image and sound – News

Logitech has unveiled the Circle View Wired Doorbell, a camera doorbell with 160-degree wide-angle lens and support for facial recognition and HomeKit Secure Video. With HKSV, the images can be stored in iCloud for free for ten days.

De Circle View Wired Doorbell supports according to Logitech HD images, night vision up to 1.82 meters and HDR, and has both a speaker and a microphone. The doorbell can be connected to ‘most’ existing wired doorbell systems. Users can mute the existing doorbell through the Apple Home app. The support with HomeKit allows users to view the doorbell images on an Apple device, such as Apple TV or an iPhone.

The doorbell can also handle HomeKit Secure Video. One of the advantages of this is that a HomePod, HomePod mini or Apple TV can recognize whether a human, animal or vehicle is on the screen. HKSV then stores these images with iCloud, where they remain for ten days. These images are also end-to-end encrypted and do not count against the user’s storage limit.

With built-in facial recognition, the doorbell can identify visitors, after which the doorbell owner can name these visitors via a tag. The doorbell can also recognize people through tags entered in the user’s Photos library. These tags allow the Logitech doorbell to send specific notifications to the owner when a recognized person is at the door.

De Logitech Circle View Wired Doorbell is now available for purchase through the US Apple store for converted including VAT 200 euros. It is not clear whether the doorbell will also come to Belgium and the Netherlands. The doorbell measures 118.8×118.8×41.8mm and weighs 151 grams.
