Logitech Blue Sona is a super directional streamer microphone

Logitech Blue Sona was unveiled today as a new flagship microphone for streamers and podcasters who want super directional sound in the home studio. The product will be Logitech’s first blue-branded microphone and will have an integrated amplifier.

In 2018, Logitech bought the microphone and audio company Blue. Since then, Blue has continued as usual with several new Blue products. Now is the time for the first big launch that uses the Blue brand as a product name under Logitech. Logitech Blue Sona is a microphone aimed primarily at professional users who need a high-quality microphone to use in front of the computer. Logitech describes it as a broadcast microphone that is supercardioid. This means it has a highly directional collection area which is good for isolating sound from other sources, such as a keyboard or computer fan. The microphone is connected with an XLR cable to a sound card but does not require an external amplifier. Logitech has integrated an amplifier into the microphone that is supposed to give a 25 decibel boost to the sound in hopes of making user setup a little easier.

It should sound good and look good

The Blue Sona has an angular design that stands out from most of the cylindrical competitors. It can be mounted on an included arm that sits along one side of the microphone. The arm lacks shock absorption, but Logitech says it doesn’t matter because the microphone is internally stabilized instead. It is designed simply to look good while delivering good sound. We cannot answer how good the sound is. Speaking of design, at least customers can choose from a black and white version of the microphone. Logitech also includes two puff covers, one black and one red.

Streamer lamp

Another company that Logitech has bought is the Litra lighting company. They are now also introducing a new streamer product. Litra Beam is a lamp that uses a series of offset LED lights that are located on an arm that can be rotated and adjusted as desired. The lamp can be powered from a computer USB port or from a USB charger. If an external USB charger is used, the lamp can be controlled via the computer via Bluetooth. From the software, users can control the color temperature of the lamp between 2,700 and 6,500 Kelvin.

Blue Sona will cost SEK 4,300, while Litra Beam costs SEK 1,500. Both will be available in stores starting today.
