MotoGP logistics begin to arrive in India. But there were other problems experienced by the team, one of which was visas.
India is preparing to hold its first MotoGP event on September 24 2023. Ahead of the event, logistical equipment began to arrive, transported by trucks escorted by the police.
Reported by Speedweek, in the photos circulating it can be seen that the logistics for the MotoGP preparations were transported using trucks, tied very tightly and covered in plastic. On the front of the truck you can see the words ‘MotoGP Bharat Protected by Gautam Buddh Nagar Police’ which means MotoGP Bharat is protected by the Gautam Buddh Nagar police.

“So far everything is going according to plan. The last flight arrives on Sunday and will be slightly delayed but only by a few hours. This plane only carries general goods, no racing motorbikes and so on. We assume that all the cargo will arrive in the paddock on Monday morning,” said IRTA Paddock Manager Geoff Dixon.
Even though logistics are starting to arrive, in fact a number of teams and reporters are still having difficulty coming to India. Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta realizes that holding MotoGP in India is a big challenge. It’s no surprise that Carmelo deployed a large delegation from Dorna to the Buddh International Circuit in August to support local promoters.

For reporters on duty, preparations for the Indian MotoGP begin on July 31 2023. All required forms must be filled in before August 4. Forms for everyone involved in the paddock are then sent to the government and the agency that administers the visa.
“Because this is a list for the government, it is not possible to do it at the last minute. Therefore we recommend that several teams be involved early in case someone is replaced,” it was reported.
On August 27, the agency then contacted about the required shortage. Then, on August 28, a visa bill of 120 euros or around Rp. 1.9 million came out to be paid. Initially the bill was paid via the agent’s PayPal. However, because too much money was flowing to the agent, PayPal actually blocked the agent’s account.
As a result, they were recommended to transfer money via the WISE application, which was later discovered to be a subsidiary of PayPal. For some people it works. However, several team members and reporters have not been successful in the verification process and it is unclear whether the money has arrived. Even though paying this bill is a condition for the visa process to continue
On the other hand, Ducati Sports Director Paolo Ciabatti flew to New Delhi last Thursday and his visa arrived the same morning. Dorna is also known to recommend that reporters describe themselves as ‘content creators’. Reportedly this was done to avoid taxes while carrying out activities in India.
