The final race in Oberhof had a clear course at first, but then came a wild end. At first it looked like a smooth victory for Loginov. However, the Russian unexpectedly hesitated with a big lead in the final shooting item and lost his leading position.
Fillon Maillet, on the other hand, showed a successful fighter. From the eleventh position at the start and with a loss of thirty seconds, he gradually worked his way forward and in the end he kept Sebastian Samuelsson behind. The leader of the discipline thus secured a leading position in the rankings, Loginov finished fifth.
How did the race go?
Loginov started the start, and although he ran into the pillow race for only seven seconds, he arrived at the first shooting range at a great distance. After an introductory lie, which he did not hesitate to, he left for the pursuers and created a half-minute lead.
Michal Krčmář improved after the first item and after whitewashing all targets he moved from the initial 30th to 24th place. However, Adam Václavík did not manage to start and had to for three penalty rounds, Jakub Štvrtecký for one. The current French leader of the discipline, Quentin Fillon Maillet, also recorded a big drop from ninth to 18th place after two mistakes.
The Norwegian duo Sturla H. Laegreid and Tarjei Bö led the Login. But while Loginov did not make a mistake on the other side, the Norwegians scored three mistakes, which was used by another Russian Anton Babikov, who became a compatriot at the head of the race. The innkeeper fired three times inaccurately and the well-run fighter soon took over.
Loginov also confirmed his great well-being on the first stand, when after one inaccuracy he struggled with problems with the rifle, and despite manual reloading, he was no longer mistaken despite the time delay. Second Emilien Jacquelin lost half a minute on him, Fillon Maillet worked his way back to the race after a bad start and was fourth.
The turning point came at the end. Loginov hit twice at first, but then missed three times in a row and was eliminated from the game of victory. On the other hand, Fillon Maillet and Sebastian Samuelsson showed zero. The Frenchman then showed a better run and defeated the Swede by ten seconds. Third was Tarjei Bö. The Czechs did not cope with the difficult conditions. It was not until Václavík finished 44th behind Štvrtecký with five mistakes, Krčmář had to accept the 46th position with five penalty rounds.
