It would be logical if the current government parties VVD, CDA, D66 and ChristenUnie form a coalition again. That says former VVD minister and experience expert as scout and informateur Henk Kamp in WNL Op Saturday on NPO Radio 1.
“It is often the case that government parties are harshly attacked by the opposition and lose the next elections,” says Kamp. “What you now see in the Netherlands is that four parties have taken responsibility. They have held it together throughout the entire period, and have also gained a few seats in the elections. That is a unique situation. I think it follows that those four parties are being looked at again. ”
Medical Ethics Issues
If these four parties form a coalition again, D66 may have to surrender again in the field of medical ethical issues. The farmers’ interests are also a painful point between D66 and CDA. “D66 has been very committed to medical ethics issues in recent years. The VVD also thinks this is important as a liberal party ”, says Kamp. “It is sensible if the ChristenUnie, which has fundamental views on this, assesses its own position properly.”
The ChristenUnie will have to give in to rejoin the coalition, says Kamp. “They have five seats, that’s not much. If there is a compromise to be made, it is sensible that the Christian Union is willing to make some movement. ”
