Locks were glued shut at eighteen Albert Heijn stores in Amsterdam last night. Some of the branches are still closed. It concerns locks at the door and at some branches the roller shutters do not open, says a spokesperson.
“We are doing everything we can to ensure that the stores can open,” said the spokesperson. Staff wait on the street at several branches until they can get to work.
It is still a mystery who glued the locks shut and what the motive could be. The Amsterdam police are currently investigating.
Albert Heijn expects all branches to be open again in the course of the morning.
