There were bizarre pictures on the Monday before the second lockdown in Vorarlberg. As early as 8:00 a.m., DIY stores, gardeners and shops that attracted high discounts were stormed by the Vorarlberg population. Suddenly the fear of getting infected was gone. It was necessary to secure percentages or to procure “urgently” needed building materials. It didn’t matter how much and how long people stood in line or were almost run over in the hardware store, after all, it was only Monday. But woe to anyone who does not see the virus as as threatening as it has to be, otherwise our state and federal leaders would certainly not take such dramatic steps and ignore our fundamental rights, why should they? The “Corona deniers” dubbed by the media are publicly insulted and defamed across the board, regardless of whether they are doctors, virologists, lawyers or the common man. If the right to freedom of expression and opinion has disappeared, who needs that? My condolences to everyone who only accompanies their recently deceased relatives to their final resting place, without friends or lifelong companions, or who are not allowed to visit their parents, grandparents or sick people in the hospitals and old people’s homes. More personal responsibility and fewer requirements, even if you are “lured” with a 50 percent discount.
