Eight industry professionals belong to the so-called “Industry Advisory Board”, which is supposed to discuss with and report to the Board of Directors. The Locarno Film Festival announced this on Monday.

The idea behind this advisory committee is “to shed better light on auteur cinema”. The film industry has had to adapt to “significant changes in its material conditions and the underlying distribution strategies” in recent years, the statement says. One goal is to network with other sectors of the industry worldwide.

Nadia Dresti will lead the committee. She has been a member of the board of directors of the Locarno Film Festival since 2022. She has had relationships with the festival since 2000. At that time she was marketing director of 20th Century Fox Switzerland.

The Advisory Board also includes the producer Ted Hope, the President of the Swiss Cinema Association Edna Epelbaum and Bobby Allen, who works in the area of digital sales strategies. Marion Klotz, the director of the Locarno Industry Academy International, is there, as is Beki Probst, who currently advises the Berlinale, and Emmanuel Cuénod, the former director of the Geneva International Film Festival (GIFF). Gerardo Michelin will bring his expertise on Latin American cinema as a further member.

The 77th edition of the Locarno Film Festival will take place from August 7th to 17th. (SDA/s)
