Localities in 17 communes of Ñuble will now have digital connectivity – La Discusión

The Ñuble Region became the second region of the country to be awarded the “Last Mile” digital connectivity project, an initiative designed and promoted by the Undersecretariat of Telecommunications, which in this case, aims to deploy fiber optic networks and In this way, improve digital connectivity services in 55 locations in the region.

“The Última Mile Ñuble project is a complement to the National Fiber Optic project that was inaugurated a few weeks ago and what it will generate is a better telecommunications infrastructure, specifically fiber optics, which will cover several locations in the region, thereby allowing that residents can access better quality and faster services,” said the Undersecretary of Telecommunications, Claudio Araya.

Through the Telecommunications Development Council (CDT), the results of the public tender “Última Mile Ñuble” were presented, which resulted in the awarding of the project to the company Texus Networks SPA. The initiative designed by Subtel had the support and approval of the Regional Government, who granted a subsidy of $5,234,400,000.

According to the Governor of Ñuble, Óscar Crisóstomo, with the implementation of this initiative, “through ÚItima Mile, we seek to update ourselves on a key subject for the development of our communities, today it is not only a necessity for young people but for the whole family; In addition to being an enabling factor for the general development of a commune: carrying out procedures, facilitating knowledge, economic development and access to health, are some concrete examples of what better connectivity can achieve, which is why our commitment is focused on making every effort so that this benefit reaches the greatest number of inhabitants.”

For his part, the Seremi of Transportation and Telecommunications, Javier Isla Figueroa added that, “the Regional project that is financed by the Regional Government and executed by Subtel, is a project that is complemented by the National Fiber Optic project already in execution, the which connects with home Internet to all the communal capitals of our region. This new project allows us to advance towards rural sectors and not stay only in the urban sectors of the region, and thus fulfill the long-awaited dream of having a connected region, where the place where one lives is not an impediment to having the benefits. of digital connectivity, such as strengthening learning processes, generating new job opportunities and also a better health system.”

The localities benefited belong to the following communes Cobquecura; Coelemu; Chillan; Old Chillan; Quillon; Bulnes; Coihueco; Pemuco; St. Ignatius; Yungay; Pinto; St. Fabian; St. Charles; Pinto; Ranquil; Treguaco and Portezuelo.
