Local train to Crash with tree evacuated – Upper Austria

Train crash near Piberbach (Linz-Land): A tree fell into the overhead line, the “Cityjet” could no longer brake in time. The train had to be evacuated.

A train from the ÖBB rammed a tree with suspension of the overhead line at Piberbach (district Linz-Land) on Sunday morning. The storm must have brought down the tree next to the railway line. He fell into the overhead line of the Pyhrnbahn line.

The fire department had to arrive shortly before six in the morning. At the time there were 3 passengers on the train, the train driver and the conductor. According to the fire brigade, they were all unharmed.

The tree was then removed from the line.

The train route between Kematen / Krems-Piberbach and Neuhofen / Krems is likely to be closed until 8 p.m. on Sunday due to overhead line work, according to ÖBB. A replacement rail service has been set up.
