“Local social worker” for children and families

In 1979, SOS Children’s Villages and KURIER gave a new home to children forced to flee the terrible war in Vietnam. Within a very short time, houses were built in the two children’s villages of Moosburg (Carinthia) and Pinkafeld in Burgenland.

The project was funded under the “KURIER helps to help” campaign through the readiness of readers to make donations. In the SOS Children’s Village Pinkafeld, two of these houses still provide a home for children and young people.

When you visit these houses, you can still see the plaques on the walls that read “Kurierplatz” and “Kurier-Haus”. “Six children live in house 15 in a family life situation. Next door is another house which is currently empty, but has already been prepared for a family,” explains Sandra Gottwald, educational director in Pinkafeld.

During the KURIER pre-Christmas visit, a child’s birthday is celebrated with its mother. The living area is decorated in bright colors and the atmosphere in the “Kurier-Haus” at number 15 is excellent.
