Local Police in Huelva Seize 603 Kilos of Illicit Fruits and Vegetables, Donates to Charitable Centers

The campaign against illicit peddling promoted by the Local Police of Huelva has resulted in the seizure in the city during the last ten days of a total of 603 kilos of fruits and vegetables. A merchandise that the City Council of the capital has proceeded to donate in its entirety to different charitable centers in the city, among which are the Santa Teresa de Journet Nursing Home or the Virgen de la Cinta soup kitchen.

In this regard, the Councilor for Mobility and Citizen Security, milagros rodriguezhas wanted to show that “it is essential to make the public aware that acquiring products from illegal sales harms the Huelva commerce sector and also implies clear support for the mafias behind it.”

In this operation, it should be noted that 400 kilos of tomatoes have been seized, as well as 60 kilos of watermelons, 40 kilos of nectarines, 20 kilos of peaches, 20 kilos of pears, 20 kilos of potatoes, 15 kilos of melons, 10 kilos of peppers, 7 kilos of plums, 5 kilos of paraguayos, 3 kilos of apples, 3 kilos of cucumbers, 3 kilos of bananas and 2 kilos of cauliflower.

For all these reasons, the municipal intention is to continue reinforcing this type of inspections in different parts of the city, in order to combat the Illegal sale and also encourage product acquisition for consumption in the different supermarkets and commercial establishments of the capital.

The Consistory also insists that this type of purchase, since it does not have any official control, can pose a danger to consumers, as well as a loss of product guarantee and the possibility of making some type of subsequent claim. .

For its part, with these interventions by the Local Police it is also intended to support small and medium-sized companies in Huelva and traditional commerce, a sector that pays taxes, promotes the economic revitalization of Huelva and contributes to the well-being of society.
