Local Office for Children inaugurated in Doñihue – 2024-09-06 10:32:01

The municipality of Doñihue already has a Local Children’s Office (OLN), for the promotion of rights, the prevention of risk situations and violations, as well as for the protection of the rights of children and adolescents, which had an investment of more than 35 million pesos from the Ministry of Social Development and Family.

To launch this local agency, the inauguration of this office was held, with the assistance of the Seremi of Social Development and Family, Nayadeth Ahumada and the mayor of the town, Pabla Ponce Valle, complying with the institutionality of Law 21,430, enacted under the government of President Gabriel Boric, which creates a System of Guarantees and Comprehensive Protection of the rights of children and adolescents.

Based on the aforementioned Law, the establishment of Local Children’s Offices is established, which seek to comprehensively protect children and adolescents and contribute to guaranteeing the exercise of their rights, in order to achieve the deployment of their potential and achieve their comprehensive development.

The OLN in Doñihue will focus its work on articulating the offer aimed at children and adolescents, especially those related to social services linked to the Comprehensive Child Protection Subsystem, Chile Crece Más and the National Service for Specialized Protection of Children and Adolescents, through intersectoral networks at the community level.

The regional secretary for Social Development and Family, Nayadeth Ahumada Herrera, explained the importance of Doñihue having this office, which will guarantee and promote rights, as well as protect and remedy violations of children and adolescents.

“We are very happy to say that Doñihue now has a space for its children and adolescents,” Ahumada explained, noting that they are making rapid progress in setting up Local Children’s Offices at the regional level.

Ahumada added that to date there are 27 Local Children’s Offices in the 33 municipalities of the region, and “today, inaugurating this OLN in the month of childhood is also an important part of the work we have been doing.”

For her part, the mayor of Doñihue said she was pleased to have this office that works with three professionals whose mission is to protect and guarantee the fulfillment of children’s rights.

“We are proud to be able to open this Local Office for Children, which cost us a lot, but which is now a reality, where children and adolescents will have a space where they can express their concerns,” said Mayor Ponce.

Likewise, the vice president of the Communal Advisory Council of Children and Adolescents, Maite Soto, expressed that “we all have the right to an opinion, no matter the age, color, ideology, we all have opinions and they are respected in different ways, making it known that we can communicate.”

For the implementation of this Local Office for Children, the Ministry of Social Development and Family, through the Undersecretariat for Children, provided resources exceeding 35 million pesos for the start-up of this space in the commune of Doñihue.

In addition to the regional minister for Social Development and Family, Nayadeth Ahumada; the mayor of Doñihue, Pabla Ponce; the presence of deputy Marcela Riquelme, regional councilor Jacqueline Jorquera, councilor Mario Pérez; representatives of the Communal Advisory Council for Children and Adolescents; parents, mothers and caregivers, and neighborhood leaders was also noted.
