Alexis Vega highlighted the efforts of the Devils to save the tie in their visit to Tuzos and thanked the support of the fans, which allowed the Toluca FC team to practically feel like home in another team’s backyard, something that is already becoming a habit.
“We know that our fans are always present at any stadium we go to; last tournament they were painted red, but today was no exception. We are very grateful for all the support; their support is a plus for us, we will try to make them happy and make them enjoy going to see Toluca,” said the player.
Vega spoke about the penalty he scored against the Tuzos: “Thanks to my teammates, the penalty was awarded, it was my turn to take it and it is another goal that gives us a lot of confidence and we must continue working, we are on the right path.”
The scarlet player managed to fool Carlos Moreno, shooting from the penalty spot with power and placement, but he also had to do with his knowledge of the rival goalkeeper: “I have known the goalkeeper for a long time, since the National Team, I knew that he was going to go to a play where he practically always threw them there; I tried to fool him and put him on the other side.”
Finally, Vega highlighted the effort of the Diablos in the face of the rival’s demands and considered that it is essential that the team can maintain a winning path in the competition. “Together with all my teammates we make a great sacrifice. Pachuca is a team that runs a lot, we had to run twice as much so, we always try to contribute our grain of sand and be supportive with our teammates.”
“At times during the game we were superior. Pachuca also had its chances in 15 or 20 minutes, it could have turned the game around and then we continued with our game plan, we could have tied the game and in the end we had clear chances to take the win, but well, it was a close game, a game that could have gone either way. That’s football and we’ll have to continue on the same path,” he added.
