Local Elections in Lora del Río: Results, Candidates, and Analysis

More than 14,000 people were called to the polls in Lora del Río this May 28. Up to eight candidates participated in these local elections, in which the 17 councilors of the Loreno City Council were elected.

The results of the elections leave the following municipal corporation:




PP 4,488 votes (44.25%) 9 councilors

PSOE-A 3,423 votes (33.75%) 7 councilors

WITH ANDALUSIA 955 votes (9.41%) 1 councilor

CCL 431 votes (4.25%) –

PSLI 333 votes (3.28%) –

VOX 259 votes (2.55%) –

CS 83 votes (0.81%) –

FORWARD ANDALUSIA 65 votes (0.64%) –

Enamorado won the previous elections with an absolute majority, obtaining 9 of the 17 councilors, but lost the Mayor’s Office in 2022 after a motion of censure was carried out with the votes of the PSOE, Adelante, Compromiso con Lora (CcL) and a turncoat from the PP . The mayor became the socialist Francisco Javier Carrasco, who also heads the PSOE list for this May 28.

In addition to the two large national parties, six other formations were presented. Miguel Ángel Nogales Ruda heads the CcL list; Francisco Javier Molina Ordoño is the leader of Vox; Salvador Carmona Martín is the first representative of Ciudadanos; Francisco (Curro) Guerra Povedano presides over the Adelante list; Manuel Rodríguez García (El Cartageno) is the candidate of the Loreño Social Party (PSLI); and Miguel Ángel Rosa Moreno from Con Andalucía IU.

The results of the May 2019 elections gave a resounding victory to the PP, which obtained almost half of the votes. Antonio Miguel Enamorado’s candidacy managed to collect 4,668 ballots, which represented 48.23% of the total. This earned him nine of the 17 councilors of the Loreno City Council.

The second political force in Lora del Río was the PSOE, with 2,617 votes, which represented 27.04% of the total. The socialists won five seats. Adelante – Izquierda Unida came in third place, with 1,511 votes (15.61%), with which it won two councilors.

The last mayor went to the local party Compromiso con Lora (CcL), thanks to the 546 votes it garnered, which represented 5.64% of the total. Without representation in the City Council, Ciudadanos was left, whose candidacy was voted for by 261 people (2.70% of the total), which did not allow them to obtain any representative.

The party that came closest to obtaining one more councilor was Adelante, a party that was 46 votes short of obtaining a third councilor.

Participation was 66.05%, more than two points above what it was in 2015, when it stood at 63.90%. In 2019, 9,812 people voted, while in 2015 9,635 did so. Abstention, therefore, was 33.95% in the last appointment with the polls. There were 75 blank votes and 134 null votes.
