Local election 2021 in Offenbach: Björn Höcke’s campaign appearance not canceled
The canceled Höcke appearance was also the subject of the last city council meeting. Minister of Order Peter Freier (CDU) had explained in detail why the city did not oppose the AfD rally in front of the flame at the town hall, the memorial for the victims of National Socialism. In order to prohibit an event there, the memorial must be designated as a special location by the state. However, this is extremely rare, since it comes with the restriction of the meeting. “We have the police headquarters in Southeast Hesse and the defense of Constitution consulted. Both agencies saw no apparent basis for a ban or a postponement of the meeting, ”said Freier.
There were deliberately no legal steps taken to avoid upgrading the event. The flame would have been enclosed in an appearance. Whether the city has to do this in two weeks depends on whether Höcke this time actually comes or not. (Timur Tinç)
