“Local centers should not be sacrificed”

During the election campaign, local elected officials go fishing for votes. In the vaccination campaign, they go fishing in doses. Since the beginning of January, they have been maneuvering behind the scenes to obtain the right to open vaccination centers in their town. By dint of insisting, some have gained the confidence of the regional health agency and the prefecture. Others are still waiting their turn. But this diplomatic game could be turned upside down by the government’s desire to set up the famous vaccinodromes. If it reached its goal of 1,000 vaccinated per day, the Legouest hospital could be qualified as such. At full capacity, these vaccinodromes would be very dose-intensive. And inevitably, some small vaccination centers are already afraid of seeing their endowment drop.

“For the moment, nothing lets us think that the proximity centers will be sacrificed, reassures Jean-Luc Bohl, the mayor of Montigny-lès-Metz. Our center is in the process of carrying out the second injection of the first vaccinated and the prefect has already confirmed to me that we will be able to launch a new campaign. But we will be vigilant. Vaccinodromes are good, but on a daily basis, we see that people are very attached to these local centers ”.

Same vigilance on the side of Thionville: “A vaccine park is undoubtedly necessary to carry out massive operations in the metropolis of Metz,” indicates the mayor, Pierre Cuny. But their creation would make no sense if that meant sacrificing the excellent territorial network that has been formed. You will not ask a Thionvillois to go to Metz to be vaccinated! “
