Out of $ 7.5 million in government aid that has passed through the city’s coffers in recent months, Lévis estimates that about $ 5 million could be “forgiven”. This means that the 264 companies concerned, including 62 restaurants, would not have to reimburse a very large part of the sums granted.
Over the months, the government of Quebec has relaxed its aid criteria to allow the companies concerned to take their head out of the water in this difficult health context, explained Mayor Gilles Lehouillier, Friday morning, during a point virtual press.
Even if each case is studied separately and according to very specific criteria, the municipal administration gave the example of a loan of $ 50,000 granted to a merchant. In certain situations, the “loan” portion would be no more than $ 5,000, while the grant could go up to $ 45,000, it has been illustrated.
