Erik-Olivier Riendeau from Montmagny, François Savard from Saint-François and William Simard-Boulet from St-Damase will take part in the boxing gala in Frampton en Beauce on September 9th. This event will officially launch the competition season for the Montmagny Boxing 376 club.
A total of 800 spectators are expected at the event. The three boxers from the region have already been training for several weeks in anticipation of this first competition of the season. They train about three times a week to perfect their techniques and cardio. They slowly increase in intensity more and more as the competition approaches, while learning how to avoid injuries. However, they will be entitled to a break three days before the event in order to arrive in good shape to face their opponent.
Good start
In operation for a year, Styve Beaupré, manager, indicates that a few boxers have been trained since the club was born in September 2023 and that others will be added over the months. For the moment, five boxers are able to participate in regional galas. “Several beginner boxers will be able to make their debut in the spring or fall of 2024, because it takes a year of preparation to participate in a Boxing Gala,” he informs.
The goal would be to develop enough boxers by 2024, of all ages, to offer a gala in Montmagny within two years.
According to Mr. Beaupré, the RCM has enormous potential in all sports. It is simply a question of putting the infrastructures there to develop one’s skills.
The Club is currently supported by Jonathan Masson, Jessica Marleau and Maxime Paquet.
