Jakarta –
The price of the MG4 EV electric car dropped drastically after it was assembled locally at the Cikarang factory, West Java. Unmitigated, the decrease reached IDR 260 million. What are the causes?
Before being assembled locally, the MG4 EV was a CBU (completely built up) product from Thailand. At that time, the vehicle was priced at IDR 699 million for the highest variant. Meanwhile, after being made domestically, the price drops to only IDR 433 million.
Arief Syarifudin as Marketing & PR Director of MG Motor Indonesia confirmed that, even though prices have dropped significantly, his party has not cut vehicle features and specifications. The electric car is still exactly the same as the one previously sold in Indonesia.
“What is certain is, from what I have just explained, the quality, starting from the features and technology, meets global standards and nothing has been cut at all,” said Arief when met by detikOto in South Jakarta, Wednesday (10/1).

Arief explained the reasons why the price could drop so drastically. Apart from the fact that it was assembled locally, he said, tax deductions were also one of the reasons.
“That’s because we have CKD now and we can reduce several cost factors and the tax ratio is also one of the causes. Government support allows us to provide great prices. This price is appropriate and without a single reduced feature,” he said.
Furthermore, Arief confirmed that the MG4 EV will soon meet the 40 percent TKDN requirement. So, the price announced is the result of calculations after receiving tax discount incentives from the government.
“It has been calculated, so with such a price, we have formulated it with calculations (incentives). This figure is the best and will not be reduced any further,” he said.

It is known that the MG4 EV uses an electric motor capable of producing 125 kW of power and 250 Nm of torque. This provision allows the vehicle to accelerate from zero to 100 km per hour in 7.7 seconds.
This silent vehicle is equipped with a Lithium battery which has a capacity of up to 51 kWh. The battery can be used to cover a maximum distance of 425 km, while charging it from 10 to 80 percent only takes 35 minutes.
