Chelsea has officially borrowed Joao Felix. According to Gabriel Agbonlahor, Chelsea made a panic buy and it was as if they were playing the Football Manager game.
The Blues spent 11 million euros (Rp. 180.9 billion) to get the Portuguese international midfielder from Atletico Madrid. Joao Felix is on loan until the end of the 2022/2023 season.
Joao Felix is expected to boost Chelsea’s bleak front line. Graham Potter’s team just scored 20 goals, the fewest among the elite Premier League teams, so they were thrown into 10th place in the standings.
Joao Felix himself hasn’t really shone at Atletico after being redeemed for 126 million euros from Benfica in 2019. Meanwhile, this season, the 23-year-old striker has only made five goals and three assists in 20 appearances in all competitions.
Former Aston Villa star and pundit, Gabriel Agbonlahor, believes Chelsea carried out a frantic recruitment by bringing in Joao Felix. Agbonlahor also believes Felix will have difficulty with English football.
“I think not. Chelsea has a lot of problems, and this is even more embarrassing,” Agbonlahor said Football Insider. “Arsenal said they wanted Mudryk, then Chelsea made an offer for him.”
“Man United had chased Felix, and now Chelsea got him. It’s like they are playing Football Manager,” continued the former England international striker.
“This is a panic buy, and they are in a strange position at the moment. Seeing him, I think he will be the butt of the Premier League,” Agbonlahor added.
Joao Felix will wear number 11 in Chelsea. It is predicted that Felix will immediately make his debut for the Blue when they visit Fulham headquarters in the Premier League continuation tonight (13/1/2023).
